Messages, moderation and lead records
When you message a developer or other listing partner through Namora, the message is stored by Namora. It is visible to you, to the person you are writing to and to authorised Namora administrators. The listing partner sees the name on your account. They do not see your email address or phone number unless you choose to share them in a message.
Namora administrators may read conversations to moderate the platform, investigate reports of abuse, fraud or misuse, resolve disputes, keep the platform secure and administer our services.
Namora automatically checks messages for signs that contact details have been shared, such as a phone number, an email address, a messaging-app or social-media handle or link (for example WhatsApp, Telegram, Instagram or Facebook) or a street address. When this is detected, Namora records a lead for that conversation, noting the conversation, the listing, the people involved, the type of detail detected and the date. Namora may also record a lead manually after reviewing a conversation. One lead is recorded per conversation.
Lead records are used to administer Namora’s paid lead-generation services for listing partners, including invoicing and resolving disputes, and Namora reviews leads before they are invoiced. This check is not used for advertising or to make decisions about you as a user.
What you share in a message is your choice. If you share contact details, the recipient can use them outside Namora and Namora cannot control that use. For your safety, keep personal and financial details to yourself until you have verified who you are dealing with, and never send a deposit or payment on the strength of a message alone.
Email notifications about messages
If a message sent to you has gone unopened for over an hour, Namora may send you an email to let you know. The email may include the sender’s name and a short preview of the message. We also send essential emails such as account confirmation and password reset. We do not send marketing emails as part of this feature.
Namora’s team is also notified internally by email when a lead is recorded. These internal emails are not sent to users.
Mailing lists
Namora keeps two separate mailing lists: one for people looking to buy, one for developers. You join either one yourself, by choosing which you are and entering your address on our sign-up form. We never add you to a list because you created an account or sent a message.
For each person on a list we store the email address, which list it is, the language the form was shown in, the exact wording you agreed to, and the date you agreed to it. We keep that wording so that we can show you later what you actually consented to.
The lawful basis is your consent. You can withdraw it at any time, and every email we send carries a link that removes you without needing to sign in. You can also write to us and we will remove you.
The two lists are kept apart and are used for different messages. Being on one does not put you on the other. We never share, sell or rent your address, and we do not use it for advertising.
Legal basis for UK and EEA users
Where the UK GDPR or the GDPR applies, Namora processes personal information where necessary to provide requested services, meet legal obligations, pursue legitimate interests such as security, fraud prevention and platform improvement, or where consent has been obtained where required.
Reviewing conversations for moderation and safety, and detecting shared contact details to administer lead-generation services, rely on our legitimate interests in keeping the platform safe and operating our business, balanced against your privacy.
International processing
Namora is operated from the United Kingdom. Our database is hosted in Ireland, and other service providers may process information in the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area, the United States or elsewhere.
Many listing partners are based in Morocco. When you send an enquiry, we pass your message and the name on your account to the listing partner because you have asked us to contact them. Listing partners must handle personal information they receive in line with applicable data-protection law. Where required, Namora will take reasonable steps to use appropriate safeguards and contractual protections for other transfers.
Retention
Information is kept only as reasonably necessary to operate the service, manage accounts and enquiries, applications and listings, commercial and billing records, security, legal obligations, disputes and enforcement.
Messages are kept while your account is active and for as long as needed afterwards for these purposes. Lead records are kept for as long as needed for billing, accounting, dispute resolution and legal obligations. You can ask us to delete your account and messages; we may keep records that we are legally required to keep or have a legitimate business need to keep, such as invoiced lead records.
A mailing-list address stays on the list until you remove it, and the record of your consent is kept for as long as the address is on the list.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal information. No internet service can guarantee absolute security, so users should also protect their credentials and devices.
Your rights
Depending on applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection or withdrawal of consent. UK and EEA users may also have portability rights and the right to complain to a supervisory authority. In the UK, that is the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
Email support@namora.ma from your account email. We may need to verify your identity.
